First 2026 bursary tranche released

3 February 2026 · Open Zambia

The first 2026 CDF bursary tranche released K100 million to constituencies — K641,025 for each of the 156 constituencies, the same amount for every constituency in the country.

The bursary component pays secondary-school boarding fees and skills-training bursaries for vulnerable learners in each constituency. It is the part of the fund most families meet directly, and it moves on its own calendar: school terms do not wait for the community-projects pipeline.

The equal per-constituency figure is the CDF's design in miniature — every constituency, whatever its population, receives the same share. Whether that equality is the fund's fairness or its flaw is the argument the 226-constituency expansion has now sharpened.
